Privacy Policy

Last updated: 8 October 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Kangaroo Couriers Australia Pty Ltd (ABN 62 615 585 923) (“Kangaroo Couriers”, “we”, “us” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses and protects personal information when you use www.kangaroocouriers.com.au (the “website”), ask for a quote, book a delivery, apply for an account, contact us, or send or receive a delivery we carry. We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

1. The personal information we collect

We only collect personal information that we need to provide our courier services and run our business. Depending on how you deal with us, this may include:

  • Quotes and bookings (Melbourne Metro, Country or Interstate, and prepaid bookings): your name, company, email address and phone number; pickup and delivery company names, contact names, addresses, phone numbers and email addresses; pickup and delivery dates and times; item descriptions, quantities, dimensions and weights; and any notes or special instructions you give us.
  • Account applications: the legal entity and trading name, ABN, business and postal addresses, phone number, email address and website; owner or director names and phone numbers; accounts payable contact details; delivery requirements and preferences; trade references; the login email and password you choose; your digital signature; and your acceptance of our Terms & Conditions.
  • Contact form and enquiries: your name, phone number, email address, booking number, your message and any image or file you choose to upload.
  • Live chat: the messages and any details you type into the chat window on the website.
  • Tracking and delivery records: consignment or tracking numbers, the status and history of each job, and proof-of-delivery details such as the name and signature of the person who received the item, where a signature is required.
  • Payments and invoices: invoice, payment and transaction records. Where online card payment is offered, card details are entered on our payment provider’s secure hosted page, not on our website, and we do not store full card numbers.
  • Website usage information: your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you visit, how you interact with them and the site that referred you, collected through cookies and similar technologies (see section 5).

We usually collect personal information directly from you. Sometimes we collect it from someone else, for example when a customer books a delivery to or from you and gives us your name, address and phone number, or when you list trade referees on an account application and we contact them.

You can browse the website without telling us who you are. If you want a quote, a booking or an account, we need your contact and delivery details; without them we may not be able to provide the service.

2. How we use personal information

  • to prepare quotes, take and confirm bookings, and arrange pickups and deliveries;
  • to give drivers the details they need to collect and deliver items, and to provide tracking, delivery notifications and proof of delivery;
  • to assess and manage business account applications, including contacting the trade referees you nominate;
  • to issue invoices, take payments and keep financial records;
  • to answer enquiries, handle complaints and provide customer service, including through live chat;
  • to ask for feedback or a review after a delivery;
  • to protect the website and our forms from spam, fraud and misuse;
  • to understand how the website is used and improve it and our services; and
  • to send you service updates and, where you have agreed or it is otherwise permitted, information about our services. Every marketing email includes a way to unsubscribe, in line with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth).

We do not sell personal information.

3. Who we disclose personal information to

We disclose personal information only for the purposes above, or as otherwise permitted by law. This may include disclosure to:

  • our drivers and contractors who carry out pickups and deliveries;
  • the sender or receiver of a delivery, to the extent needed to complete it and confirm its status;
  • service providers who help us run our business, including our courier dispatch, tracking and price-estimate software provider (OnTime 360), website and email hosting providers, the marketing email platform hosted by a related company in our group, payment providers, and the analytics, live chat and security services described in section 5;
  • trade referees you nominate, when we assess an account application;
  • our professional advisers, insurers and debt collectors, where needed; and
  • courts, regulators, law enforcement or other authorities where we are required or authorised by law.

4. Overseas disclosure

Some of our service providers store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States and the European Union (for example, Google, OnTime 360, Hotjar and Tawk.to). Where we disclose personal information overseas, we take reasonable steps to make sure it is handled in a way that is consistent with the APPs.

5. Cookies, analytics and third-party services

The website uses cookies and similar technologies, some set by third parties, to make it work, to measure how it is used and to help us improve it. These include:

  • Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics and Google advertising tags, to measure visits and pages viewed and to understand which of our ads lead to enquiries;
  • Microsoft (Bing) Ads and Facebook (Meta) pixel tags, to understand which of our ads lead to enquiries;
  • Hotjar, which records how visitors move, click and scroll on our pages (heatmaps and session recordings) so we can find and fix usability problems;
  • Tawk.to, which provides the live chat window;
  • Google reCAPTCHA, which protects some forms (such as the account application form) from spam and abuse;
  • Google Maps, used on our price estimator; and
  • cookies set by our website software (WordPress) and our online booking forms so that they work correctly.

Analytics, advertising and session recording run by default. These tools load when you use the website. A short notice tells you this on your first visit; clicking OK hides it, and we remember that for 180 days in a small cookie called kc_notice. Cookies that the website needs to work, such as those for bookings and forms, Google reCAPTCHA spam protection and the Tawk.to live chat, are always on.

How to opt out. You can turn off analytics, advertising and session recording on this website at any time:

  • use the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page. This stops Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics, Google and Microsoft advertising tags, the Facebook pixel and Hotjar from loading on this website, tells Google tags that consent is denied (Google Consent Mode), and deletes their cookies from this website. We remember your choice for 180 days in a cookie called kc_consent; use the same link to turn them back on;
  • block or delete cookies in your browser settings (for example Chrome, Safari, Firefox or Edge), although some parts of the website (such as bookings) may then not work properly;
  • install Google’s Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, and manage Google ad personalisation at My Ad Center; or
  • opt out of Hotjar on all websites at hotjar.com.

These providers may collect your IP address and information about your browser and device and process it under their own privacy policies.

6. Security and retention

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure, including access controls and secure (HTTPS) connections for the website. We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy and to meet our legal obligations (for example, tax and financial record-keeping), and then destroy or de-identify it.

If we become aware of a data breach that is likely to result in serious harm to the people involved, we will notify them and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) where required by the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.

7. Accessing and correcting your information

You can ask for access to the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading. Contact us using the details below. We will respond within a reasonable period, usually within 30 days. If we refuse a request, we will tell you why in writing, as the Privacy Act allows.

8. Complaints

If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first using the details below. We will look into it and respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at www.oaic.gov.au.
